I had another go at these today so here is another recipe for bliss balls tweaked from yesterday’s. 😋😋

WILD ORANGE & CHOC BLISS BALLS

A variation on the usual chocolate bliss balls that really creates an amazing taste sensation. (Also amazing with Peppermint essential oil).

What you need:

2 cups of nuts (cashew + pecan or macadamia + walnuts are good combos but any nuts will work)
1 cup of dates, soaked hot water then drained (=approx 8-10 large Medjoul dates with stones removed)
1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
1/2 cup of desiccated coconut
1/4 cup cacao / cocoa
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
8-10 drops doTERRA Peppermint or 10-15 drops DoTERRA Wild Orange Essential Oils
1/4 cup desiccated coconut to roll the balls in or add in if need more dryness = optional.

What to do:

  1. Place the nuts and chocolate in processor and process so that JUST chopped.
  2. Remove and set aside.
  3. Place the dates, coconut and sunflower seeds, coconut oil, vanilla and oils* in your food processor and blend until becomes smooth.
  4. Add nut mixture back in and pulse until mixture is crumb-like and sticky. (Probably will need to scrape the sides down.)
  5. If the mixture is too dry add in some extra water or coconut oil (water if for lunchbox / coconut oil if eating from fridge). If too wet then add in some extra desiccated coconut.
  6. Scoop out the mixture by tablespoons and roll into balls (optionally on the extra desiccated coconut).

Options!!

* If you want to make half Wild Orange and half Peppermint you’ll need divide mix in two after step 5 and hold oils to add at end.

This makes large batch of about 30 balls so just divide by 2 to make a half batch. Remember to halve the amount of oils! If you get tired of making balls press mixture into a dish then refrigerate 15 mins and then cut into squares or slices.

Tips:

Careful when adding oils. They’re very potent. If in doubt add less can always add more end or next time you make. Also be sure to only use food grade pure essential oils. We only use doTERRA.

You will need to wet your hands a couple of times as you make up the balls because the mixture will be very sticky when rolling the balls.

Storage:

Put in fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up before eating (if you can). They will keep in fridge in airtight container for a couple of weeks but they won’t if you put them there because you will eat them! Best to make them last by keeping them in (the back of) your freezer.
