With sky rocketing rates of childhood obesity and other metabolic disorders there is no denying we’re in a right mess in so far as feeding the next generation is concerned. But it’s never to late to make a positive change. The fact is though that (as the lyrics to Jamie’s rap goes) “the people in charge are NOT getting this right”. So, it’s up to us, to you and me, to play our part in revolutionising the way children eat.

For me this revolution (education) has to start at the home. But education in school is important too. I’m just not sure though if this Food Revolution that Jamie is working for will not end in more “education” of the sort that got us into this mess in the first place? Such as more low fat dogma and more involvement of corporates pushing their own agendas in schools as inevitably will be the case with sponsorship of school education of food (it’s happening already here with Fonterra and dairy products). But I hope I’m just being pessimistic and that the Real Food movement has progressed such that education when it is introduced is more than what has to date been rolled out by such luminaries as our Heart Foundation…

What do you guys think? Have you signed the petition? (I did in the end sign it because I think when people are talking about something then they are thinking about it and then there’s an opportunity to introduce them to a new way of thinking.)
